Helping Animals: Program Description
This Book Give Back is a serious commitment of mine and I will be working to continue to develop and expand this program. I have developed the following four ways in which Max and I will work to fulfill this commitment:
First, I will invite local animals shelters to participate in any and every book signing I do, just as we did at our first one at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in October, 2008 with the Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL). They were very pleased to participate and several cats and dogs were adopted as a result of their visit in their big RV, Rover. They were also able to hand out a lot of literature to potential volunteers and donors. We continued this commitment by involving the Lake Humane Society with our second book signing at Borders in Mentor in December, 2008.
Another way is for me to continue to make personal financial contributions to these organizations as I have for years, but hopefully at a higher level from sales of the book.
Third, I am making the book available at a 50% discount to any interested animal shelter to be used in fund-raising events. The book can be used in many ways, including as a gift for volunteers or sold at its retail price of $15 which will net them $7.50 per book. Bulk purchases would be at an even better discount.
Fourth, Max and I will donate our time free of charge to appear at fund-raising or other events as we are available and able to get there. I would never put Max on an airplane so we would have to be able to drive there, probably in the motorhome. We will also donate a signed copy of the book to any event that we are at or chose to support. The book has already been used as an auction item at the Cleveland APL Fur Ball event and at the Lake Humane Society event.
For further information on any of these opportunities or to order books for your fund-raising event, please contact me through the "Contact Us" page or at equinoxgrp@aol.com.
This ball is just getting rolling--stay tuned for more success stories as we all work to create a better place for animals. And please let me know if you have other ideas on how this program can be more helpful to these organizations.
In peace,
Janet and Max
